Sian Beilock, UChicago Professor of Psychology, shares with us what happens when we experience the dreaded performance anxiety.
Sian Beilock, is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Chicago and an expert on the brain science behind “choking under pressure” and the many factors influencing all types of performance: from test-taking to public speaking to your golf swing. Dr. Beilock will share with us what happens in our brain and body when we experience the dreaded performance anxiety. And what are we doing differently when everything magically “clicks” into place? Her research is supported by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education and her work is routinely covered in the media. Dr. Beilock was highlighted as one of four “Rising Stars” across all academic disciplines by the Chronicle of Higher Education. Her first book Choke: What the Secrets of the Brain Reveal About Getting It Right When You Have To was published in 2010.
